YA Panel (TBA)
How it Started and How it's Going: Young adults reflect on homeschooling through high school
Are you overwhelmed by the idea of homeschooling through high school? Our panel of young people will share their stories of how they did high school as homeschoolers. Learn what worked, what they struggled with, and what advice they would give to their younger selves and their parents. You’ve homeschooled your child through elementary or middle school, and now you’re facing homeschooling high school. Or maybe you’re thinking about homeschooling high school because regular school is an ongoing struggle that is taking over the family or affecting the mental health of your child. The stakes feel so high, especially if they are college bound. Will your child get into a “good” college? What are the boxes you need to check? Is homeschooling high school a bad idea? Will your child be asked “did your mom give you these grades?” Ask the experts – the young people themselves, both current high schoolers and graduates.
Participants will:
• Further your understanding of the perspectives of homeschooled high schoolers
• Gain confidence in your ability to homeschool through high school
• Learn strategies and things to avoid while homeschooling through high school
