Aligned and Authentic: Unmasking the Power of Being You
What would change if you stopped hiding your true self?
In this powerful and deeply moving closing presentation, Sam invites gifted and twice-exceptional families to explore what it means to show up fully — masks off, hearts open. Drawing from cutting-edge neuroscience, personal stories, and lived experience, Sam unpacks how “masking” — the act of concealing who we really are — can lead to exhaustion, isolation, and identity confusion.
But there’s a better way.
This session helps families recognize that what society often labels as “too much” is often the very signal of our brilliance. Through vivid metaphors, interactive exercises, and practical frameworks, Sam offers families the tools to embrace authenticity, design strength-based environments, and build a culture of radical belonging.
This isn’t just about insight — it’s about transformation.
Whether you’re a parent, educator, or neurodivergent young person, this hour will leave you seen, energized, and equipped.
You already belong. You just need a place where you can fly.
Learning Outcomes/Objectives
Participants will explore the concept of masking through research-backed frameworks (including Polyvagal Theory and the X/Y Axis of Thriving), and reflect on its impact on identity, mental health, and connection.
Participants will gain tools to name and release the roles they’ve been playing, spot the strengths hidden within struggles, and design safe environments that nurture authentic expression for gifted and twice-exceptional learners.
Participants will create a personalized action plan by applying the “Three Lenses of Liberation” — Name the Mask, Spot the Signal, and Design the Environment — to help themselves and their families begin unmasking together.
